Marking messages as read, unread, or spam (junk)
The process of marking messages as read, unread, or spam (junk) will vary depending on your webmail client of choice:
Roundcube
When you read a message, it will be automatically marked as read.
You can also change the read status of messages by performing the following actions:
- Open the Mail task from the main menu.
- From the folder list, select the folder that contains the specific messages.
- Click on the bullet (•) symbol in front of the specific messages (unread messages are represented with a star symbol in front of them in the Larry theme).
To change the read status of multiple messages, you should:
- Open the Mail task from the main menu.
- From the folder list, select the folder that contains the specific messages.
- Select the specific messages from the message list.
- Click on the Mark button from the top toolbar.
- Select As read or As unread option from the menu depending on the status you wish to set. You can also flag/unflag messages using the As flagged and As unflagged options.
To mark messages as junk/spam in Roundcube, follow these steps:
- Open the Mail task from the main menu.
- From the folder list, select the folder that contains the specific messages.
- Select the specific messages from the message list.
- Click on the Junk button from the top toolbar.
To move messages that were incorrectly filtered as junk from your Junk Mail folder, you need to:
- Open the Mail task from the main menu.
- Select the Junk Mail folder from folder list.
- Select the specific messages.
- Click on the Not junk button, and the messages will be moved to your Inbox folder.
You can also move the messages manually by selecting and dragging them from the Junk Mail folder to the Inbox folder.
Webmail Classic
When you read a message in Webmail Classic, it is automatically marked as read.
To mark a single message as unread or spam (junk) via Webmail Classic, you should:
- Select the Inbox tab from the main menu.
- Click on the folder containing the specific message from the Folder Status section (folder list).
- Read the message by clicking on the sender's name/e-mail address or on the subject of the message.
- Click on the Mark as Unread or Mark as Spam button.
You can mark multiple messages as unread or spam (junk) at once by following these steps:
- Select the Inbox tab from the main menu.
- Click on the folder containing the specific messages from the Folder Status section (folder list).
- Select the checkboxes in front of the specific messages from the message list. If you wish to select all the messages displayed in the message list, you should select the topmost checkbox.
- Click on the Mark as Unread or Mark as Spam button.
If a message was incorrectly filtered as spam (junk) and was received in your Junk Mail folder, you will need to move it to your Inbox folder, please refer to our Moving Messages article for more details on the process.
